Bar Hopping in Cozumel is a different kind of Awesome!

Bar Hopping in Cozumel doesn´t take you to a bunch or random bars in Cozumel. We could run you to the nearest bars so that you could hop off the bus and drink. However, that would mean missing out on what Cozumel really has to offer.

The east side of Cozumel is known for its natural beauty. With the open Caribbean Sea as the backdrop, it´s ideal for some amazing photos. It really does call out to our inner photographer.

The Cozumel Bar Hop will take you to some of the best bars in Cozumel. One of the things that make these bars so great are the striking locations. Each of the Cozumel beach bars we visit has great scenery that will blow you away.

There are so many great places for pictures at each one of the stops on the Bar Hop Tour. Whether you want to get a good shot from the cove area at Punta Morena, or from the high vantage points at Coconuts bar, you will definitely get some spectacular shots!

Awesome and fun tour!

This tour was personally recommended by a friend and was the main highlight of our recent cruise (Don’t be confused by competitors with a similar name).

This is a perfect tour for those wanting to get away from the tourist traps on the island and is perfect for a cruise ship excursion or for someone vacationing on the island.

As a local resident, our tour guide Colleen was very insightful and entertaining. She had a story and history of the all the sites we saw and the bars we visited. Each bar visited had its own distinctive flare and the beaches and views were absolutely spectacular!

We were in a late model van with cold A/C and our driver Javier was great!

We look forward to doing this again as a FoHo (former hopper) on our next trip to Cozumel!

Keeping in Touch! Where have You been since your Bar Hop in Cozumel?

 As other Fo-Hos have stated, Bar Hopping with us is highlighted not just by our service, but also by the people you meet on the tour! Many of you Fo-Hos have become friends with your fellow Fo-Hos. It´s also obvious that many of you stay in touch with them and with us as part of our active community on Facebook and our other Social networks.

We love receiving your pictures that you send us or post wearing your Cozumel Bar Hop T-shirts in unique places around the world. We have received pictures of Fo-Hos wearing their Bar Hop T-shirts everywhere.  From the Texas Crawfish and Music Festival, all the way to the Great Wall of China!

This has sparked a trend for our Fo-Hos. Now because of that, we want to share your stories with the rest. It´s easy, just snap a picture wearing your Cozumel Bar Hop t-shirt in any unique place you travel and send it in with your story. We’ll feature it on our blog and share it with your Fo-Ho community on social media!

From Novice Hopper to Ninja Level Fo-Ho!

Hola Hoppers!
We always say that the best compliment we can get is a return guest. So, we
are pleased to see that so many of you have come back to Cozumel for more
fun Bar Hopping.gracias! Now we know that many of you have multiple hops on
your record, and of course we think you’re awesome and we salute you!
We also want to take some time today to celebrate one of our Fo-Hos as he
hit a definite milestone, to say the least. This past month marked a record
for one Fo-Ho, and so we want to introduce him to those of you who have not
yet had the pleasure of hopping with him!

Ninja Level Hopper?
We are pretty sure that if you could be here hopping more, you would be. We
say this because of how much we know you love hopping! One hopper who is the
envy of hoppers everywhere has set the record for the number of times he’s
been hopping!  We introduce you to our amigo Bob Eck, a former pilot and self-ordained

We introduce you to our amigo Bob Eck, a former pilot and self-ordained Mayan Ambassador.  Now Bob is not just any Fo-Ho, this past month Bob added to his personal best record and has now done the Cozumel Bar Hop Tour 26 times!
Bob reached a milestone on March 6th by marking his 25th Bar Hop in Cozumel! Since Bob has hopped so many times with us, he has now received the glorious title of NINJA LEVEL HOPPER!
But wait, there’s more! His wife Robinn is following right along with him,
with over 10 hops herself, and now that she’s recently retired, she’ll no
doubt be keeping pace with her hubby!
How do you become a Ninja Level Hopper??
One of the secrets to becoming a Ninja Level Hopper is cruising multiple
times a year. Now, Bob told me they cruise about 12 times a year! So with such frequent visits to the island, it´s obviously a record that isn´t going to be broken anytime soon.
I asked Bob why they always choose Cozumel on their cruise and it turns out that a lot of it has to do with the fact that it is just so convenient for them. Since they live in Florida they don´t really need to make any big travel arrangements. It’s easy for them to just hop on the cruise ship and come on down.

 

What keeps you coming back?
I asked Bob what he likes most about the Cozumel Bar Hop Tour and he and
Robinn both agree; our excursion is one of the best places to meet and make
new friends. He said that he just feels like he´s home on the Bar Hop
because of the way he is treated, and because he knows all of the staff so
well.

Knowing that Bob and Robinn, and so many of you Fo-Hos have made many great friends here is something that we are proud of. Like Bob, many of you have made friends on the Hop with whom you have stayed in touch and reunited with on more than just the Bar Hop in Cozumel.
Reaching Ninja Level Hopper can take some time since Bob started hopping back in 2010. But don’t worry we know you can do it too! Of course, it helps to live a short drive from a cruise ship home port and being retired, lol!

you just might be a Fo-Ho!

Now for those of you who didn’t notice the difference, it might be that you
haven’t joined the fun here in Cozumel just yet. If you haven’t yet, that’s

aren’t sure what that means, not to worry, we’ll explain so that you can

As the Original Bar Hop tour, we have worked very hard to set ourselves apart from the other tours in Cozumel. One of the ways that we have done that is by establishing long

I’m sure that you probably noticed that we keep mentioning the term Fo-Ho here in this post, but not to worry, it’s nothing offensive! it’s actually quite simple. Fo-ho is a term that we have coined that means FOrmer HOpper!

bunch bars in Cozumel. What it really means is that you have just become a

This really becomes evident when you start repeating your Bar Hop experience
with each trip to Cozumel. Just one example of this is our good Friend and NINJA LEVEL FO-HO, Bob Eck who is one of our most experienced Hoppers to date. Bob has hopped with us 26 times and counting!!! Bob’s Wife Robin, is up to 11! Now that she’s retired, that number is bound to increase rapidly!

“We traveled to Cozumel as part of a cruise and friends recommended the bar
hop. The beaches on the other side of the island are beautiful. We never
would have seen or even known this side of the island existed if it hadn’t

Another Successful Hop Against Breast Cancer!

As we say goodbye to 2016 and welcome in 2017, we look back at all the great
things that happened in the year. Today we’ll highlight the results of our
annual Pink October campaign.

Yes Hoppers, this past October marked our sixth straight year participating
in the fight against Breast Cancer. It was another great Hop against this
disease and we owe many thanks to all of you amazing,  generous Hoppers who
continue to support this cause.

Let’s take a little time to look back at what a big impact you made, as you
hopped with us against breast cancer.  After six years hopping against
Breast cancer, we have been able to raise thousands of Pesos that have gone
directly to local Breast Cancer patients here on the island.  As many of you
already know, we always match the amount raised in sales of our Pink October
Merchandise sold, and this year was no exception.

Thinking locally and raising awareness globally!

With our limited edition Pink Cozumel Bar Hop Merchandise hopping off the
shelves and into your wardrobe, we were able to raise a significant amount
that is helping local women here on the island. After a successful month, we
met with the local Integral Family Development system, (DIF) and handed over
the funds that were raised and matched by Cozumel Bar Hop.

Thanks to you hoppers, we were able to raise $9000 Pesos, which directly
impacts the lives of 3 women (selected by the DIF) here on the island who
are fighting against this horrible disease. The money donated is being put
to use to help these women with their cancer treatments, Doctor visits,
medications and so forth.

A special thanks to all you Fo-Hos

With your help, we’ve been able to continue to build awareness and directly
impact the lives of cancer victims here in Cozumel. So Hoppers, we want to
thank you again for your help in the Hop against breast cancer, as you have
brought relief and hope to so many!

While we did raise a significant amount this time around, the fight against
breast cancer is ongoing and we look forward to Hopping against Breast

Hola Hoppers!

We are enjoying October and have loved having those of you that have made it down here this month! If you have been here at this time of year before, you may have noticed things that may remind you of Halloween.  In reality not all of those decorations or things you noticed are related to Halloween, some may be associated to our annual Mexican Holiday, “Day of the Dead”. 

It’s only natural to believe that Day of the Dead is the Mexican version of Halloween; though in reality that is not the case.  So for all of you dear Hoppers out there, this article will focus on the differences between Halloween and Day of the Dead. Let’s hop right to it then!

Halloween in Cozumel

Now, we mentioned that Day of the Dead is very different from Halloween, but that doesn’t mean that you have to totally give up on celebrating Halloween while visiting Cozumel. This is because Cozumel, being the major vacation spot that it is, has also become somewhat multi-cultural.

So yes, there are some activities for Halloween on the island as almost every hotel and night club will have Halloween parties, with costume contests and  wild decorations. If you go downtown you’ll see kids dressed up and trick-or-treating in the Main Square , and also many neighbourhoods will have house to house visits by all the little ghosts and goblins as well!

Halloween vs Day of the Dead

Halloween (also known as All Hallows Eve) is the night before All Saints day, and is a celebration of Life after Death. It is said to have some pagan roots in an ancient Celtic Festival known as Samhain, when the door to the Otherworld was opened for spirits to return to the world of the living for one night. It was Christianized as Halloween.

Some of the popular Halloween activities include dressing up in costumes of all sorts, Trick-or-treating, divinations, decorating and bobbing for apples among many other things.  Trick-or-treating in costumes is one of the most awaited for activities on Halloween and is when children receive candy as they go door to door saying trick-or-treat!

Now Day of the Dead in comparison is actually very different from Halloween and has been celebrated as far back as 3,000 years. It has been linked to indigenous celebrations which honored dead relatives and ancestors.

The festival originally took place the ninth month of the Aztec calendar and even lasted the entire month. Now the Day of the Dead is a Celebrated from Oct 31 to Nov 2. Day of the Dead is a special time in Mexican Culture in which families build altars to deceased family members and pray for their deceased relatives.

Traditionally, the spirits of deceased children can return to the World of the living on Nov 1, which is All Saints Day or Day of the Innocents. The Adult spirits return on Nov 2 which is All Souls Day. Families will often go to the cementaries and decorate the graves of loved ones, and even bring their loved one’s favorite meals on the days that they are believed to be allowed to visit.  So Día de los Muertos actually focuses on honoring the lives of deceased loved ones.

While Halloween is commonly represented with pumpkins, black cats, ghosts etc., Day of the Dead is represented by Marigolds and Sugar Skulls of Catrina, who is the Lady of the Dead.

So while there are some common similarities between Halloween and Day of the Dead, there are also many differences as you can see! So Hoppers, we hope that this was educational and we look forward to sharing a Hoppy Halloween with you and also a Hoppy Dia de los Muertos for those of you that will be with us this week…

Hola October! Cozumel Bar Hop!

Adios September, Hola October!

 Hola Hoppers! We had a great September here in Cozumel with all of the awesome Cultural Events and festivities. We know many of you had a great time with us as well and we loved having you! So moving on, we are saying Adios to September once again and Hola to October! All of you Hoppers out there probably already know that October is one of our favorite months here in Cozumel, and we will be glad to tell you all about some of the things that make October so important to us!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As many of you hoppers already know, we love to give back to our community and we like to look for good opportunities to do so. October is one of our favorite months because it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Due to that, we have been active participants in Breast Cancer Awareness for many years and continue to participate each year. Many people know a little bit about Breast Cancer but this month but we definitely want to help people learn and understand more about the disease which affects so many lives.

Now, while many people do know about the disease it is very important that everyone takes necessary steps in order to detect the disease in its early stages. Just as important as taking steps for early detection it is definitely important to look into what factors can increase or decrease your risk of Breast Cancer. For example, did you know that Breastfeeding can actually decrease your risk of breast cancer?  So take advantage of all the opportunities to learn more about Breast Cancer so that you can take steps to lower the risk to yourself or your loved ones.

Giving Back – Cozumel Bar Hop Fundraiser

As previously mentioned, we love to give back and this is one way we love to do that. Oct. 1^st marks our 6^th straight year participating in the fight against breast Cancer with our Cozumel Bar Hop Breast Cancer Fundraiser.  We are proud to share this opportunity with all of you Hoppers.  So here is a quick breakdown of what we have done and how this works.

Hop Against Breast Cancer

As we hop against breast cancer and with your help, we have successfully donated thousands to those battling Breast Cancer. 2011 marked our first year participating in the fight against breast cancer and since then we have been able to locally help many Women in their struggle.  For that reason, starting again Oct 1^st we will again be offering limited edition Pink Cozumel Bar Hop T-shirts for purchase of which all sales will go directly to the DIF of Cozumel. Of all the sales each year Cozumel Bar Hop matches that amount and it is donated.  So if we raise $7000 we will donate $14,000.

Now this money goes directly to the local DIF which is the system for Integral Family Development. They select 3 women locally who are in need of help in their fight against breast Cancer. Now while this is normally something that is done anonymously, we have actually been allowed to meet and put faces to these women who are struggling against breast cancer. These donations go towards their treatments, medications, Doctor Visits and more. This fact makes this all the more significant for us here at Cozumel Bar Hop. To give you an idea here is what we have successfully donated the last few years:

• 2015 – $15,000 donated
• 2014 – $13,000 donated
• 2013 – $10,000 donated

As you can see we have continued to build awareness and increase what has been raised each year and it is all thanks to you are fellow Hoppers! So we want to thank you again for your help and we invite you to continue to help us raise awareness and lend a hand to those who are battling against this disease.  So if you want to help us in our Hop against Breast Cancer, you can purchase your Pink Bar Hop t-shirt while hopping with us.
